A HIRE car was again the target of thieves near the tourist icon Blue Boatshed on Mounts Bay Road.

Sergeant Paul Vojkovich said wallets, handbags, two passports, drivers’ licences, credit cards, $300 in Singapore currency and $300 were taken when the left-hand window of car was smashed in Kings Park Avenue on June 12.

The same day, two handbags and passports were taken from a car hired by Indonesian and Thai tourists that was parked in the avenue.

Police had reports of thefts from seven cars in the area in the previous week.

AN inflatable dinghy and its 2.5hp outboard motor were taken from a yacht at Royal Perth Yacht Club between June 7 and 11.

Police said thieves went into the yacht club and took the dinghy while it was tied to the yacht.

The crime is being considered as potentially part of a spate of at least six thefts last week between the club and north to the University Boat Club, Matilda Bay.
