MOSMAN Park Council needs to be clear for what purpose a Mosman Park Beach pool would serve.

Is it to add to the revitalisation of nearby Buckland Hill and assist the lobby to link the Swan River with the coast by bush park?

Will it be just a safe place to swim for seniors, the disabled and children, or will developers’ interest in nearby land lift?

Sure, the cliff above the beach is artificial, being built from waste in the past, and a pool would not destroy any dunes.

But the site has its share of projects that never were or did not reach their full potential, including nearby Mccall Centre redevelopment, a longproposed cafe and the artificial surfing reef.

The council needs to think long and hard before it could add an ocean pool to that list, because to fail could damn in the public and State Government’s eyes a project that deserves to succeed somewhere in the western suburbs.
