Ideal home for the car collecter

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Liftout: News -

DOWNSIZERS are faced with many questions; how many rooms are needed, will the furniture fit, is there enough storage, for example.

According to Baltinas Made’s Barry Baltinas parking is also essential.

"There are downsizers who are very keen to make the switch to inner-city apartment living with all the conveniences it offers but they’ve built up beloved car collections that they’re just not ready to part with," he said.

"As a car enthusiast myself, I realised that we as developers have to respond to these very real needs of a unique slice of the downsizer market or they just won’t see how they can leave their traditional homes, despite wanting to for reasons such as maintenance and lifestyle and a desire for single-storey living."

As a result each penthouse at Baltinas Made’s Camilla Residences will offer enough secure garage space for five cars.

The sub-penthouses will come with a four-car garage, and two other residences will have four car bays.

Mr Baltinas said there had been interest from buyers considering purchasing both penthouses to be able to get a 10-car garage, and it was not just car collectors looking for premium parking options.

"Many downsizers are shifting out of their big homes but bringing their older children or ageing parents, or both, with them and they need more than the typical two or three car bays on offer," he said.

"Even though inner-city living provides the possibility of car-less or one-car living, these buyers also want the option to park four or five cars if need be."
