Outlaw pamphlets

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Westernopinion -

IN the past few years we have seen the proliferation of mass communication advertising via the internet and smart phone.

So why do we still get junk mail? Surely new technology has given advertisers a sustainable platform via which to advertise their products and services.

Big businesses will have a sustainability policy while they still pay contractors to put pamphlets into letterboxes.

The outcome is bad for Australia Post, which battles with clogged letterboxes, and very bad for residents, who battle with soggy pamphlets which blow around the street and become litter.

One way to frustrate junk mailers is to post their material back without a stamp, but more effectively our council could enact a Local Law which outlaws pamphlet deliveries.

Come on council, help us clean up our streets.
