LIFE’S CALENDAR FULL FOR AGEING

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Westernopinion -

GROWING old gracefully is not about less wrinkles or staying mobile, it’s about enjoying life as you always have.

Playing sport, doing a spot of gardening and splurging on black tie nights can be enjoyed well into your older years, albeit at a different pace.

This week we’ve featured residents of non-profit aged care provider Bethanie. Between Monday and Friday at its various facilities in the metro area and beyond, the organisation has facilitated physio chi sessions, sport days, a knitting group, a red carpet event and gardening. Bethanie chief executive Chris How made it clear he did not come up with the activities.

Mr How said Bethanie was simply a facilitator for its clients and they drove the events calendar.

“You need to keep people enjoying life to the fullest,” he said.

Will I be editing a newspaper at 95? Probably not, but I’ll have a crack at the retirement village newsletter. Denise S. Cahill
