DADS’ tastes have changed and be­come more ex­pen­sive since 2002.

The Western Sub­urbs Weekly’s Fa­ther’s Day gift guide pub­lished in Au­gust 2002 in­cluded photo frames, a desk clock, cheese board and wine stop­pers.

To­day’s gift guide fea­tures a Google Home de­vice, cof­fee ma­chine, flight sim­u­la­tor ses­sion and a ce­ramic bar­be­cue.

The cost of the 2002 items fea­tured range from $10.95 to $149, while the cheap­est item on this year’s list is the Fa­ther’s Day Fast Food combo from the Cheese­cake Shop that comes in at $36.95.

The cof­fee ma­chine is the most ex­pen­sive item at $3499.

Dads were tak­ing more in­ter­est in home dec­o­ra­tions in 2002 while gad­gets, food, drinks and ex­pe­ri­ences were the theme this year.

Read­ers were di­rected to David Jones and Face Dances, which re­cently closed its doors, in 2002.

Bun­nings, Ikea and The Good Guys fea­tured this year, with a cou­ple of gift ideas avail­able on­line.
