DARCY Dono­van was named Best Ju­nior Club Man at the As­so­ci­ates Rugby Club ju­nior sea­son wind-up on Sun­day.

The long-time mem­ber ref­er­ees as well as plays and was nom­i­nated for the ARU School Stu­dent Schol­ar­ship this year.

As well as cel­e­brat­ing the Soaks un­der-13s Swan premier­ship, the Swan­bournebased club also launched its Allen Park Viva Touch 7s com­pe­ti­tion that will run from Septem­ber 27 to De­cem­ber 6.

The com­pe­ti­tion is a so­cial form of touch rugby more sim­i­lar to union than league and open to ju­niors aged from five and se­niors.

As­so­ci­ates will field about five teams, but peo­ple can reg­is­ter as a team or an in­di­vid­ual.

Ju­nior pres­i­dent Bill Bowyer said the fo­cus of the Touch 7s was on fun and there were no oner­ous for­mats.

“Teams can be male-only, fe­male-only or mixed and there will be sev­eral so­cial games run­ning at all times,” Bowyer said.

“Dif­fer­ent com­pe­ti­tions will be run de­pend­ing on the num­ber of teams reg­is­ter­ing.

“While there will win­ners and losers, the pri­mary aim is for every­one in­volved to have fun.”

There will be trial ses­sions on Septem­ber 13 and 20 from 5.30pm for ju­niors and 6.30pm for se­niors.
