Faith in humanity

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Westernopinion -

IT took decades for western nations, including Australia, to reject Judeachristian ideologies and apply secularism to achieve gender equality, freedom of speech, sexual orientation, birth control, abortion when it was badly needed, accepting couples living as partners and children born out of wedlock, all as normal.

We also accepted all UN declaration on human rights only because we rejected the intolerance and medieval draconian ideologies of religions.

For centuries, gays were abused, bashed, killed and denied educations and jobs. They had to hide, and some until death. Now the bigots are asking to at least give them the freedom to discriminate against gays in some small ways on the pretext of religious freedom. Their God has already spoken and allowed same sex marriage in nearly 25 countries. It is inevitable in Australia.

Believers should take comfort with the fact it’s not God that allowed it but humanity that did. For God to act either way, He has to exist first. ALEX MULLA,
