High time to indulge in sweet treat

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Food - With Belinda Cipriano Coffee TWR High www.crown hotels.com.au

THERE’S something special about a good high tea.

Whether it’s part of a girls’ catch-up, birthday celebration, baby or bridal shower – the tradition of sitting together sipping tea (even better when there’s coffee and alcohol) and eating miniature scones, sandwiches and sweet treats is the ideal girls day out.

So imagine my delight when I discovered the Crown Towers announced their newest establishment The Waiting Room would be serving High Coffee daily from noon to 5pm.

Having been to the one at Crown Towers in Melbourne before, I’ve always loved the glamour and class associated with The Waiting Room, and Perth’s is no different.

Opulent and grand, it’s the place to relax and unwind while sipping on their extensive range of cocktails and enjoying their small bites - but back to the High Coffee, after all that’s what I came for.

On arrival we approached a barman who seemed to be having a bad day but despite this rocky start we were eventually ushered to a table where he walked us through the menu.

Described as a modern twist on the traditional high tea, it features four delicious chocolate and coffee infused desserts as well as your choice of a Caramel Espresso Martini or Irish Coffee ($35 for one cocktail $50 for two).

I was assured their were non-alcoholic options too. WHAT: WHERE: The Waiting Room - Lobby Level WHEN: Sunday to Thursday 8am – 10pm, Friday to Saturday 8am - late

A sweet tooth’s heaven this decadent array of sweets, while delightful, was a little too much for this savoury fiend.

The tray – featuring a chocolate sphere with creamy mousse, a coffee style tiramisu-cum-affogato, a coffee infused macaron and the crème-de-la-crème chocolate cigar filled with Nutella – was deliciously sweet and paired with the cocktails, I walked out buzzing and on a sugar high.
