Chorus lines up for celebration
THE Floreat-based Perth Symphonic Chorus’s 20th anniversary will be celebrated at the Matilda Bay Restaurant in Crawley this weekend.
“When you are a member of the chorus, there is camaraderie, beautiful singing and performing with others,” inaugural member Anne Johnston (71) said.
The chorus of about 80 singers was established in 1997 to bring choral music to a wider audience, performing pieces such as Handel’s Messiah, Brahms’ Requiem and Rachmaninoff’s Vespers.
In 2004, the chorus went to New York to join an international choir singing Mendelssohn’s Elijah in Carnegie Hall. It has performed in Vienna, Salzburg, Prague and Budapest, and will perform Messiah to celebrate the Perth Concert Hall’s 40th anniversary in December.
Tickets for the Perth Concert Hall anniversary are at www.perthconcerthall.com. au or www.perthsymphonic chorus.com.au.
The Perth Symphonic Chorus members Christine Kang, Marama Garland, Cara Fesjian, Kalon Ford and Anne Johnston are ready to celebrate.
