The foodies guide to Fremantle
Michael and Lucy Deller recently launched Fremantle Tours. HUSBAND and wife team Lucy and Michael Deller are hoping their tours with a difference will prove a hit in the port city.
The Fremantle locals, who have worked in the hospitality and tourism industries for years, launched Fremantle Tours last Wednesday.
Mr Deller said the tours epitomised Fremantle and would include cycling, food, drinks and walking tours.
“An outing is like being shown around a new city by one of your oldest and most passionate friends,” Mr Deller said. “You can expect to share lots of laughs, learn all about the history of Fremantle and listen to family stories, passed down through many generations.”
Having previously worked as a tour guide across WA, Mr Deller said coming together with his wife to start the business made sense.
“Lucy’s career in hospitality and management, paired with my background in tourism and environmental history, provided the perfect partnership,” he said.
“We will operate four types of tours with each providing people with a chance to experience the rich history of the port city, gaining an insight into Fremantle hot spots from the past, present and into the future.
“The Drink tour will operate every Thursday and will start at one of Fremantle’s trendiest bars and continue on to visit a total of four bars.
“This tour will provide customers with a chance to mingle with Freo’s best bartenders, brewers and wine connoisseurs, learning all about the tricks of the trade.
“The Eat tour experience will be available for private functions and consists of a three-course dinner, taking in the very best restaurants Fremantle has to offer and feature a meet and greet with the chefs, venue managers, bartenders and other staff to give an insight into each venue.”
Fremantle Mayor Brad Petit said the tour company would be a great addition to Fremantle’s tourism mix.
“Michael and Lucy are Freo locals, passionate about our city’s history, creativity and unique character,” he said. “We look forward to seeing their vintage bicycles visiting local businesses and showing off all that Fremantle has to offer.”
