Get to know Shenton Park

Western Suburbs Weekly - - Front Page -

PUT on your walking shoes and get ready to explore Shenton Park’s secret stories and leafy open spaces.

Subiaco Museum volunteer Marion Gathercole will lead the way around ‘A Plethora of Parks’, the latest instalment in the See Subi on Sunday strolls.

The weekend tours are in their 16th year, after Ms Gathercole originally organised a one-off walk as a community project.

“I was only going to do one and 60 people turned up,” she said.

See Subi on Sunday walks have now taken residents and visitors around Subiaco Oval, local character homes, public art and more.

“There are lots of stories around here. One of the comments I’ve had is ‘I drive past all the time and I’ve never noticed that’,” Ms Gathercole said.

Walkers are also encouraged to share their own snippets of local history during the walks.

‘A Plethora of Parks’ starts at 1.30pm at the Onslow Park Tennis Club car park on Sunday, January 14.
