GREATER integration of the disabled in council activity will continue with the adoption of a new disability access inclusion plan (DAIP) at Claremont Council last month.

“It’s not just physical access, it’s also people who may have hearing issues, so we’ll be looking at our communication procedures,” acting chief executive Les Crichton said. Claremont’s third DAIP since 1995 was the result of a review of the abilities of the council’s buildings and services to provide for all forms of disability between June and November last year.

The review resulted in 121 public responses.
