IN the December 5 edition, our premier Mark Mcgowan was asked ‘What does Christmas mean to you?’

He acknowledged family was important, but there were other considerations for people who have to work at Christmas to support their family, and there are many people who have nothing and rely on charitable contributions for a meal at Christmas!

However the thought of the first Christmas when the miraculous birth of Jesus occurred, seems to now be overlooked, and yet this babe’s life, death and resurrection have inspired and are still inspiring people today, over 2000 years later.

Surely this fact deserves precedence as the first Christmas day to be recorded, its relevance being totally overshadowed by ‘buying’ and ‘celebrating’ but certainly not for Jesus! JACQUELINE ELLIOTT Mt Claremont
