COMMONWEALTH Games swimmer Brianna Throssell’s dad James Throssell won a Barossa Valley holiday at the Commonwealth Games farewell lunch late last month. Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries Director General Duncan Ord’s ticket was pulled out of the main raffle but he donated the prize, a Linneys necklace, back to the event for auction.
It eventually sold for $3500. The event, organised by the Australian Olympic and Commonwealth Games Team Appeal Committee - WA raised money for Commonwealth Games athletes heading to the Gold Coast. Christine Anu welcomed the 600 guests by performing My Island Home, Emily Lambert sang the National Anthem and a legends panel of Ric Charlesworth, Allana Slater and Eamon Sullivan told athletes to enjoy the experience and soak up the home town atmosphere. The model did relaxation exercises in the space as media and special guests toured the new lounge the day before it officially opened to passengers.
Bodhi J Wellness Spa Retreat owners Danny and Tania Taylor have been in discussions with Qantas about the wellness centre, which offers Perth to London Qantas Dreamliner passengers gentle stretching sessions and mindfulness and breath awareness techniques, since September last year.
Mr Taylor said the 12-15 minute sessions would start with soothing aromatic inhalations and were suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
