Bush­fire safety

TREES and shrubs will be cut back be­cause of a high bush­fire risk in re­serves and park­land at Lake Clare­mont. A re­port at last week’s coun­cil meet­ing said the Town should be­gin re­duc­ing fuel load in the area, and haz­ards along paths and cor­ri­dors of bush at the lake’s north­west, east end of Glouces­ter Street, Strick­land Street and nearby Al­fred Road. An un­bud­geted $12,000 was agreed for the work be­fore the fire sea­son.
