Western Times - - LIFE | TV GUIDE -

Unlike her books, Beatrix Potter took forever to reach a happy ending, as Chris Noonan’s illustration of the author’s life portrays. Renée Zellweger (left) deploys her trademark facial tics in a capricious portrayal of the English creat or of Peter Rabbit, whose farfetched imagination totters between the lines of loveable and unsettling. Ewan McGregor plays love-interest Norman, who endears himself to her by regarding her ideas with a sincerity that no one else offers. Sydney director Noonan’s story of a misunderstood author floats awkwardly between a social reflection of a demanding era and children’s fare. ★★★★
