RUGBY LEAGUE: Western Rugby League Ringers took nine A-grade play­ers and nine un­der 16 play­ers to the South West Tri­als at Miles last week­end.

Play­ers from Roma Rugby League and St Ge­orge stepped in to help make up the sides.

Coach Shaun Radnedge said the A grade team played well in its first game against Roma con­sid­er­ing five of the play­ers were un­der 18.

“The se­lec­tors were im­pressed af­ter the Ringers’ sec­ond A grade game,” Radnedge said.

The un­der 16 Ringers were joined by three St Ge­orge boys to make up a team of 12 who man­aged to de­feat Roma Ci­ties un­der 16 team 24-16.

The day was topped off by hav­ing one A-grader, Leroy Hol­ley, make the south west side to play in the 47th Batal­lion Car­ni­val next week.

Five play­ers made the un­der 20 South West side and two un­der 16 play­ers made the south west side to go to the Mus­tang tri­als in Toowoomba.

Radnedge and fel­low coach Norm Saffy said they were very proud of the boys.

“Now th­ese play­ers have the op­por­tu­nity go fur­ther and we wish them all the best,” Radnedge said.
