Learners hit road with PCYC

THERE is something about seeing a young person learn to drive that fills Kelly Ryan with joy.

She is not sure whether it is the excitement in the young person’s eyes, or watching them grow into young adults.

It is for this reason that Mrs Ryan is looking forward to the next two months for the Dalby PCYC Brake the Cycle program.

The program has received generous funding to advance its program at the PCYC and a new school program will be piloted on Friday.

The new program, which will start at Our Lady of the Southern Cross College, will involve between six and eight students in Term 3.

The program will take students who are disadvantaged and help them learn everything from road rules to paying for car insurance.

Mrs Ryan, the program co-ordinator at the Dalby PCYC, hopes the first instalment of the school program will be a success.

“I am hoping that the students who do this program will gain confidence in driving,” Mrs Ryan said.
