This charming series isn’t perfect, but you can easily forget that thanks to the spirited performance of Rodger Corser (pictured). He brings warmth to his character Hugh’s arrogance and adds zest to some of the predictable storylines. Throw in a rural country town as the setting, and it’s hard not to become infatuated with the residents of Whyhope. Tonight, Penny’s (Hayley McElhinney) sister causes more than ripples when she visits town to defend Meryl (Tina Bursill) against corruption charges. In the quirky quotient, Betty (Belinda Bromilow) uses her hidden talents to solve a medical mystery involving backpackers, sardines and farm machinery.
