Man killed in crash east of Charleville
A 70-YEAR-OLD man was killed in a two-vehicle crash about 40km east of Charleville last Tuesday afternoon.
Preliminary investigations suggest that about 12.30pm, a utility towing a caravan attempted to turn across the Warrego Hwy to access a rest stop on the side of the road when a semi-trailer collided with the utility.
The driver of the utility, a 70-year-old man from Finch Hatton, died at the scene.
A 72-year-old woman, a passenger in the vehicle, was transported to the Charleville Base Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the truck, a 64-year-old man, was transported to the Charleville Base Hospital suffering shock.
The Warrego Hwy was closed for about two hours while investigations were conducted and the Forensic Crash Unit is continuing to analyse the accident.
The victim’s name has not been released at the request of his family.
