ROMA’S Woolworths store has taken out the top spot in a statewide initiative to raise much-needed funds for the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

For its achievements, the Roma store was presented with a mounted RFDS model aircraft – a perpetual trophy – on Wednesday afternoon.

Woolworths stores across Queensland and northern NSW spent three weeks at the end of last year encouraging customers to support the Flying Doctor by buying $2 wall tokens.

Of the 245 participating stores, Roma Woolworths raised the most, $8602.

North Queensland’s Mount Pleasant Woolworths raised $8270, and Cloncurry Woolworths raised $6116.

The generous support contributed to a total of $583,359 throughout 2017 from Woolworths customers and employees across the state.

RFDS board member and former Federal Member for the Maranoa Bruce Scott said he was proud of the community and the store for their combined efforts.
