Australia’s controversial offshore detention centres are shrouded in secrecy, thanks to a government ban on journalists and workers in the centres barred from divulging details. After the Papua New Guinean court ruled the Manus Island centre was unconstitutional, it was closed down in October last year. Many of the refugees have been moved to Kansas in a swap deal. This sobering documentary marks one of the first times the refugees are able to speak freely to the media. For many, the adjustment to arriving in Trump’s America is huge.
