Suppliers win with new council procurement system

Western Times - - NEWS -

PAROO Shire Council is using VendorPanel to simplify the way it seeks quotes, and to also increase transparency and compliance in quote-based purchasing processes.

Mayor Lindsay Godfrey said VendorPanel delivered benefits for local suppliers.

“Not only will suppliers hear about new contract opportunities first, they can also hear from the other hundreds of organisations who use VendorPanel,” he said.

“It’s a great opportunity for small business to become involved in local work.

“Council and VendorPanel are running two information sessions to introduce and explain the system to local suppliers, and to make sure they get the most out of it. We encourage any business in the area to come along.

“There are more than 70 categories under which a supplier can register – from builders and pest control, to aviation and first aid – a whole range of businesses can apply.”

Cr Godfrey said it was important to note for tender opportunities, when the intended expenditure was greater than $220,000, council would still be inviting public tenders, as outlined in Local Government Regulation 2012.
