$1.3m road spending announced
ROADS and parks were the big winners of the Balonne Shire Council 2018 budget, with $1.3 million to be spent on road development and maintenance.
The major upgrades were announced at the budget meeting last Thursday with the council to spend
$5.5 million on capital projects this financial year.
Projects include Roads to Recovery work on Honeymah Lane, Whyenbah Rd and Cubbie Rd; Transport Infrastructure Development funding for Kooroon Rd and the re-sheeting of 13km of the Mitchell–Bollon Rd and a gravel re-sheeting of Secret Plains Rd.
Leisure facilities in the region will also be upgraded, with $200,000 allocated for Dirranbandi Sports Oval amenities, while the Rowden Park grandstand will be refurbished, thanks to Works for Queensland funding of $150,000.
About $80,000 will go towards the St George aerodrome for an automated weather information system and to improve drainage.
