Pride of the West

IT’S that time of year: Quilpie Diggers Race Club will host the an­nual Pride of the West fes­ti­val, cel­e­brat­ing ev­ery­thing syn­ony­mous with coun­try life.

Two-handed cut­ting, stock horse sprints and a sta­tion chal­lenge are all on the cards, as well as a re­turn to part of the orig­i­nal for­mat with a sin­gle race day.

A whole host of other quirky events are on the pro­gram, and POTW is sure to be the best fes­ti­val in town. WHEN: Satur­day: Septem­ber 29. WHERE: Bul­loo Park, Quilpie.

Race and re­union

HIS­TORIC foot­ball club the Charleville All Whites RLFC are host­ing a race day to re­mem­ber as part of the club’s re­union.

With free en­try, the races will be one of the best value days out in town.

Later in the evening, All Whites are putting on a spread with their semi-for­mal re­union din­ner.

Tick­ets are still avail­able, but get in quick, be­cause they do need to be pre-pur­chased.

High tea

AUGATHELLA will be the lo­ca­tion for the classi­est gar­den party in the west, when the Iso­lated Childen’s Par­ents’ As­so­ci­a­tion branch hosts a high tea gar­den party.

Fundrais­ing for the group, the morn­ing tea/lunch will have a bar on hand and bou­tiques from around the re­gion sell­ing their gor­geous wares.

There will also be a guest speaker, ICPA state coun­cil­lor Louise Win­ten, who is from (some­what) nearby An­gel­lala Downs.

The high tea gar­den party is sure to be a glam­orous event. WHEN: Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 13. WHERE: El­lan­gowan Sta­tion, 258,484 Bid­den­ham Rd, Augathella.

Meet league greats

QUEENS­LAND Rugby League is stag­ing a Drought Re­lief Good­will Tour in part­ner­ship with Men of League and FOGS.

Cur­rent and for­mer NRL stars will bring some cheer for five fun-filled days across south west Queens­land.

Take a chance to meet Queens­land Ma­roons play­ers David Shilling­ton, Michael Crocker and Chris Walker, Cronulla Sharks util­ity Kurt Capewell and ex-Bronco Shane Walker WHEN: Oc­to­ber 15–20.

RFDS ball

ONE of the most an­tic­i­pated nights of the year is com­ing up fast, so frock up and suit up for the Switched on Elec­tri­cal Han­gar Ball.

Tick­ets have sold out, but those who did snag them will be rais­ing the roof and rais­ing funds for a life­line in the bush.

School cen­te­nary

FOR­MER stu­dents of Quilpie State Col­lege are cor­dially in­vited to a cen­te­nary cel­e­bra­tion din­ner

The smart-ca­sual event will fea­ture a buf­fet meal in the pic­turesque Bul­loo Park for a stel­lar re­union and party.
