Beef­ing up Queens­land

MEAT and Live­stock Aus­tralia has an­nounced its up­com­ing BeefUp fo­rum will be held in Mun­dub­bera later this month.

It will be pre­sent­ing the lat­est find­ings on pas­ture dieback and the im­pact on pro­duc­ers, and the MLA is seek­ing di­rect in­put from pro­duc­ers to help drive fu­ture re­search.

The BeefUp fo­rum will be at Mun­dub­bera Com­mu­nity Hall on Oc­to­ber 17.

Small town book­ies ben­e­fit

TAX changes in the bet­ting in­dus­try, which came into play over the week­end, will work to the ben­e­fit of coun­try book­mak­ers, ac­cord­ing to Rac­ing Min­is­ter Stir­ling Hinch­liffe. With point of con­sump­tion rev­enue now be­ing taxed in-state, a sig­nif­i­cant por­tion has been promised to small book­ies.

“We know that coun­try rac­ing is the lifeblood of coun­try towns, which is why we have com­mit­ted more than $70 mil­lion over four years to coun­try rac­ing,” Mr Hinch­liffe said.

Health board po­si­tions open

COM­MU­NITY lead­ers are urged to ap­ply for up­com­ing Hos­pi­tal and Health Board po­si­tions in their lo­cal re­gions. There were a num­ber of job va­can­cies across the state.
