THIS new fac­tual se­ries takes view­ers be­hind-the-scenes into the heart of Aus­tralia’s call cen­tres that re­spond to 000 calls.

Cam­eras fol­low the call-tak­ers, who can of­ten make the dif­fer­ence be­tween life and death.

ESTA 000 po­lice call cen­tre op­er­a­tor Joel starts his shift in Mel­bourne with a pan­icked caller re­port­ing two girls be­ing at­tacked in a pub­lic park by eight males.

In Mel­bourne’s am­bu­lance call cen­tre, a man rings to re­port his wife has had an asthma at­tack and is now un­re­spon­sive. Call-taker Antoinette be­gins in­struct­ing CPR over the phone as they wait for the paramedics to ar­rive.

In Bris­bane, an el­derly man re­ports that he has found his neigh­bour’s de­ceased body on the bath­room floor.
