Based on Shaun Tan’s award-winning picture book, “The Arrival”, Spare Parts Puppet Theatre brings to life a story of belonging, home and the kindness of strangers in a foreign land. Follow the story of Aki, an immigrant starting out in a strange country. Will he ever see his family again? Will he find a job, friends and a place to live? Fusing Tan’s surreal illustrations with haunting music, amazing puppetry and an absence of words, “The Arrival” poignantly captures the sense of isolation many immigrants feel. This enjoyable experience teaches children the significance of acceptance and what it means to find a sense of belonging.
