An ex­hi­bi­tion of the fi­nal­ists from Queens­land’s rich­est prize for con­tem­po­rary Aus­tralian pho­tog­ra­phy, The Josephine Ulrick and Win Schubert Pho­tog­ra­phy Award 2017 opens this month at The Arts Cen­tre Gold Coast. Work from this year’s fi­nal­ists cov­ers a di­verse range of tech­niques and themes in­clud­ing por­trai­ture, land­scape, ab­stract and fash­ion. There is also a strong rep­re­sen­ta­tion of con­tem­po­rary top­ics af­fect­ing twenty-first cen­tury Aus­tralians such as cli­mate change, gen­der rep­re­sen­ta­tion and shift­ing eco­nomic and tech­no­log­i­cal land­scapes.
