LES CLEFS D’OR
CHIEF CONCIERGE, SOFITEL BRISBANE CENTRAL
LES CLEFS D’OR WELCOMES you to Queensland, the Sunshine State—and what a time to come and visit!
Spring has well and truly sprung! This is my favourite time of year. In spring you can expect cool mornings and evenings, with clear crisp days. This kind of weather is perfect for what Brisbane has to offer this month. If you visit the City Botanic Gardens, New Farm Park, Kangaroo Point and the Roma Street Parklands during October, you will find yourself in the company of the most beautiful jacaranda trees in full blossom. These Brazilian beauties provide a picturesque backdrop to any photo so take full advantage of the time of the year, go and explore and discover just how beautiful Brisbane is!
■ This month we celebrate Oktoberfest, a festival of German culture and tradition. This event attracted over 40,000 people last year. From 6–8 and 13–15 October, the Brisbane Showgrounds play host to Oktoberfest. A family-friendly event, Oktoberfest showcases the best in German craft beer, delicious German sausages and pretzels, as well as singing and dancing shows to keep everyone entertained. So, put on your lederhosen and dirndl and get into the spirit! For more information, visit oktoberfestbrisbane.com.au or see your hotel concierge.
■ Rugby union fans won’t want to miss the Qantas Wallabies as they take on the New Zealand All Blacks at Suncorp Stadium on 21 October at 7pm. To secure your tickets today visit ticketek. com.au or ask your hotel concierge. This will be a sell-out event, so if you do miss out on tickets you can still make your way to Caxton Street and join in the atmosphere of a game night in this popular bar precinct of Brisbane.
■ Should you approach your concierge desk and be greeted by a member of Les Clefs d’or, you will instantly recognise the golden keys worn on their lapels. This is a symbol that you will receive only the best advice for your stay. Members of Les Clefs d’or are well networked not only in their city, but around the world, and can help you with any request, no matter how big or small. I encourage you to have a conversation with them and pick their brains; I promise you will not be left unimpressed.
