LES CLEFS D’OR WELCOMES you to Queensland—the Sunshine State! Summer is almost here! November sees Brisbane warming up, which means the days become more humid, and with that humidity come afternoon thunderstorms, so remember to bring your ponchos and umbrellas when you go out!

■ There are some great activities for families in Brisbane to take advantage of the warmer weather. Jump on the City Hopper—the free ferry from the Eagle Street Pier terminal—and take a short trip to Riverlife Adventure Centre, where you can hire a bike, go rock climbing, kayak along the Brisbane River or take a segway tour along the river boardwalk. The City Hopper operates from 6am through to midnight seven days a week and comes via the Eagle Street Pier terminal every 30 minutes. It travels along the Brisbane River, stopping at North Quay, South Bank 3, Maritime Museum, Thornton Street, Eagle Street Pier, Holman Street, Dockside and Sydney Street terminals.

■ While you’re in South Bank, don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Lyric Theatre at QPAC. From 4 November “The Wizard of Oz” is showing! Tickets are on sale now from qpac.com.au

■ If the weather gets too hot for you, take a dip at Streets Beach, the man-made beach at South Bank Parklands, and enjoy the Collective Markets on the weekend.

■ Keeping close to the city, Victoria Park Golf Complex offers a great day out for the whole family. The golf course offers sweeping views of the CBD while you enjoy a casual round of golf or a heated round of mini golf with the family. For all you dog lovers, on 4 and 5 November the Brisbane Showgrounds Royal International Convention Centre will be overtaken with all things poochy, with activities designed for dog lovers and owners alike.

■ Should you approach your concierge desk and be greeted by a member of Les Clefs d’or, you will instantly recognise the golden keys worn on their lapels. This is a symbol that you will receive only the best advice for your stay. Members of Les Clefs d’or are well networked not only in their city, but around the world, and can help you with any request, no matter how big or small. I encourage you to have a conversation with them and pick their brains; I promise you will not be left unimpressed.
