There are fes­ti­vals ga­lore in Mel­bourne this month.

The Mel­bourne In­ter­na­tional Film Fes­ti­val hits town bring­ing with it the best movies, doc­u­men­taries and shorts from around the world, as well as plenty of home-grown cin­e­matic gems (page 14).

The Mel­bourne Writ­ers Fes­ti­val is on later this month, while re­gional Vic­to­ria cel­e­brates with the Bendigo Writ­ers Fes­ti­val. Both events prom­ise plenty of fas­ci­nat­ing talks, de­bates and en­ter­tain­ment (page 12).

Penny Wat­son dives into “Cool Colling­wood” this is­sue and finds the hippest places to eat, drink and shop within this in­ner-city gem (page 10).

On the cover this month is the new Mel­bourne The­atre Com­pany play, “Di and Viv and Rose”. The pro­duc­tion stars Na­dine Garner, Mandy Mcel­hin­ney and Belinda Mc­clory (page 22).
