Brandenburg’s ‘Bittersweet Obsessions’

Where Melbourne - - What’s On Where Now -

The Australian Brandenburg Orchestra is presenting “Bittersweet Obsessions”, a dramatically staged Brandenburg concert at Melbourne’s Recital Centre. The concert is the emotional narrative of one woman presented as three short stories or scenes. There’s a lament, a tragedy and a comedy together with stories of unrequited love, violent passion and teenage rebellion. Constructed around three works by two of the most iconic of baroque composers Monteverdi and JS Bach, the concert includes Bach’s famous comic coffee cantata. The production stars New Zealand soprano Natasha Wilson, tenors Karim Sulayman from the USA and Spencer Darby from Australia, as well as Danish bass Jakob Bloch Jespersen. 4–5 November, Melbourne Recital Centre, 31 Sturt Street, Southbank. 1300 782 856. branden
