Shakespeare in the Gardens
The Australian Shakespeare Company is performing several plays in the Royal Botanic Gardens this month. Opening on 21 December is “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, Shakespeare’s riotous ride through the interwoven world of lovers, fairies and fools. This new production is full of romantic comedy, exquisite poetry, fairy magic, clownish characters, humour and crazy crossed paths that result in funny misadventures. The show starts at 8.30pm. You can bring your own food and drink or hot food can be ordered online or at the onsite box office. Opening on 22 December is the ever popular “The Wind in the Willows”. This critically-acclaimed outdoor theatre production delivers music, songs and laughs. There is fun for young and old as the Head Chief Rabbit transforms the audience into rabbits. The young ‘rabbits’ are then encouraged to get involved in the action. Performances are being held at 10am and 6pm on certain nights.
