My Fair Lady
Lerner and Loewe’s “My Fair Lady” is now playing in Sydney at the Capitol Theatre with a mixture of magical music, wonderful sets, stunning costumes, and great acting. Directed by Julie Andrews, the show features the sets and costumes from the original Broadway show, which opened 60 years ago. “My Fair Lady” is the stage adaptation of George Bernard Shaw’s 1913 play, “Pygmalion”, where a phonetics professor, Henry Higgins, sets out to transform a young Cockney flower seller, Eliza Doolittle, into a ‘lady’ to win a bet. The show features such musical delights as “Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?”, “On The Street Where You Live”, “I Could Have Danced All Night” and “Get Me to the Church on Time”. The impressive cast includes English actor Charles Edwards, who plays Professor Higgins and Australian star Anna O’byrne who plays Eliza Doolittle.
