WELCOME TO SYDNEY

Where Sydney - - Editorial -

There is so much to see and do in Sydney this December.

Sydney’s Christmas celebrations are in full swing, from the massive Martin Place Christmas Tree to the Lights of Christmas at St Mary’s Cathedral (page 16).

Head to a harbourside vantage point and watch the legendary Rolex Sydney to Hobart Yacht Race on Boxing Day. Helen Hayes has the lowdown on this year’s race (page 10).

The biggest party of the year has to be New Year’s Eve. Sydney loves to ring in the new year with an enormous fireworks display in the harbour and on Sydney Harbour Bridge. Get down to the foreshore early to grab your spot for this fantastic display (page 8).

The Museum of Contemporary Art Australia is currently showing a major exhibition by pioneering Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist (page 14), while The Australian Ballet is performing Christopher Wheeldon’s “Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland©” at the Capitol Theatre (page 20).

Turn to our Where Now feature (page 12) for December’s must-see shows, exhibitions and performances. Enjoy world-class events like “Muriel’s Wedding: The Musical”, “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” and Moonlight Cinema at Centennial Park.

However you choose to spend your time here, we hope you enjoy your stay in festive Sydney!
