Red Eye Records

Op­po­site the QVB on York Street, you’ll find Red Eye Records. Es­tab­lished in 1981, they are the city’s lead­ing in­de­pen­dent mu­sic re­tailer. They stock an ex­ten­sive vinyl col­lec­tion of rock and pop, blues and jazz, elec­tronic, dance, hip-hop, al­ter­na­tive, metal and sound­tracks. Plus they have a huge Aus­tralian and New Zea­land vinyl sec­tion, as well as rare and lim­ited-edi­tion vinyl, and sec­ond­hand records. JB Hi-fi at The Ga­leries

Be sure to make a pit­stop at this JB Hi-fi store, which is lo­cated right near Town Hall Sta­tion. They of­fer a good range of vinyl from pop­u­lar artists and a solid se­lec­tion of al­ter­na­tive mu­sic, as well as some ur­ban and metal re­leases. There’s plenty of clas­sic records to choose from whether you like Bruce Springsteen or Nir­vana, as well as new re­lease vinyl, such as the lat­est record from in­diepop band Chvrches. If you want to shop where lo­cal mu­sic fans and record col­lec­tors do, head straight to Egg Records in New­town.
