AN EX­HI­BI­TION OF work by late South African pho­tog­ra­pher David Gold­blatt is on dis­play at the Mu­seum of Con­tem­po­rary Art (MCA) from 19 Oc­to­ber. Gold­blatt’s pho­to­graphic work spans his six-decade ca­reer, de­pict­ing the rise, fall and legacy of Apartheid in South Africa. Fea­tur­ing un­seen vintage prints, as well as Gold­blatt’s fa­mous pho­to­graphic series and ma­te­rial from his per­sonal archive, this ex­hi­bi­tion is a unique view­ing op­por­tu­nity. His pho­to­graphs have an in­tense hu­man fo­cus and of­fer pow­er­ful re­flec­tions on the peo­ple liv­ing through decades of South African his­tory. His work res­onates with hu­man strug­gles across the globe, and the bru­tal his­tory of mod­ern civil­i­sa­tion, in­clud­ing that of Aus­tralia.
