A holiday in five-star style with a twist at Palm Bay Hideaway

Whitsunday Times - - COMMUNITY NEWS -

YOU are invited to Palm Bay Hideaway to experience a dream holiday getaway in a Balinese inspired, beach front bungalow in one of the Whitsundays most intimate tropical island rainforests.

Located in a coconut palm fringed bay of Long Island, the resort is surrounded by the azure blue Coral Sea and is perfect for year round swimming, snorkelling, scuba diving, fishing and water sports.

Previously an award winning 5star resort, this hidden gem was frequented by celebrities and international guests but is now under management of the owners of the bungalows.

The resort has introduced a unique accomodation style, where guests can bring their own food and beverages and stay in one of the 19 beautiful, private waterfront bungalows, bure's and cabins.

In effect, it is a BYO resort, which will delight the budget conscious traveller or locals wanting to spend quality time with friends and family, but not spend a lot of money.

“Guests can bring their own food and beverages. All the accommodation is self-contained with everything you will need to refrigerate, store and cook your food the way you like it,” co-property manager Jonny Goss said.

Palm Bay Hideaway has an all tidal lagoon with safe calm moorings allowing personal boat access. Private transfers can be made via a helicopter or through local island transfer companies.

All bungalows are air-conditioned with ceiling fans and feature a hammock on the waterfront deck.

There is also a central kitchen and dining area overlooking the resort pool complete with barbecues, fridge and freezer. Additional facilities include spas, a tennis court, kayaks, fishing gear, media room and library with a number of bush walks available for nature lovers.

Ms Goss said Palm Bay Hideaway was the perfect venue for special events like weddings, birthdays, anniversaries or work functions.

“Being small, it is relatively inexpensive to reserve the entire resort for an exclusive function and full catering can be provided through a number of local businesses,” she said. Bronwyn Garland from Garland of Hope will be hosting a twoday wellness retreat with a strong focus on organic food and meditation at Palm Bay Hideaway from July 13 for those wanting to experience the island firsthand.

TROPICAL PARADISE: The absolute beach front bungalows at Palm Bay Hideaway on Long Island offer safe calm moorings for boats to access the island.

5-STAR QUALITY: The Palm Bay Hideaway resort lounge and fireplace is a beautiful space for locals to enjoy quality time with friends and family.
