Mixed fortunes for Proserpine pennants teams
LADIES pennants is now more than half way completed for Proserpine following their two away games last week.
On Tuesday afternoon the team played against Pioneer Valley and had an overall win with a score of 41-38 giving them two match points plus eight.
Maree Daffara’s team drew 19 all and Joan McGrath’s team won 22-14.
On Wednesday afternoon, the team played against Seaforth and had an overall win with a score of 38-37 for two match points plus one.
Joan McGrath’s team won 2315 and Maree Daffara’s team lost 15-22.
At home on Wednesday, there were two games of social bowls.
John Jackson (visitor from Melbourne), Joyce Patullo and Dot Hinschen defeated Fran Porter, Bill Hamer (visitor from Bribie Island), Pam Selmes and Barbara Dammash 30-13 and Janet Mortimer, Annette Patullo and Joy Jeffries defeated Trudy Hanne, Arthur Williams and Betty Rudd (visitor from Bribie Island) 25-13.
On Sunday in the second semifinal of the club championship pairs Jo Peasley and Joan McGrath defeated Noelie Dibben and Maree Daffara 26-14.
Competition is now coming to a close with the final of the club championship singles being played on Wednesday, July 3 between Annette Patullo and Joan McGrath, marker Maree Daffara.
The final of the B singles will see Amy Hart take on Dell McCormack, marker Heather Brown.
This week the pennants team has a double header at home, playing against Seaforth at 9am and Pioneer Valley at 1pm.
Club competition for the men has been in limbo during pennants but will be starting back to finish off this weekend.
Last weekend there were two games for each division.
On Saturday, division 1 played against Mackay Club at Proserpine and came away with a 50-48 win for two match points plus two.
Shane Spann’s team lost 16-17, Barry Saroglia’s team lost 12-20 and Scott Kinnear’s team saved the day winning 22-11.
On Sunday it was a different story with Proserpine losing to North Mackay on their carpet green losing 82-33, earning no match points minus 49.
Grahame Kinnear’s was beaten 10-36, Scott Kinnear’s team lost 8-26 and Barry Saroglia’s team went down 15-20.
Division 4 played away against Northern Beaches on Saturday coming away with a win 53-51, earning two match points plus two.
Ross Reville’s team won 23-10, Vince Olsen’s team were defeated 16-20 and Kevin Thorogood’s team defeated 14-21.
Sunday was a home game against North Mackay with Proserpine winning 78-40, earning two match points plus 38.
Kevin Thorogood’s team won 23-15, Vince Olsen’s team lost 1418 and Ross Reville’s team won 41-7.
There were two games of social bowls played on Sunday.
Lois Read and Philip Brown defeated Janet Mortimer and Heather Brown 25-24 and Trudy Hanne, Jim Quod and Dot Hinschen defeated Fran Porter, Bob Ballantyne (visitor from WA), Pam Selmes and John Jackson (visitor from Melbourne) 25-17.
This weekend is the last weekend of men’s pennants teams.
Division 1 is away against Suburban on Saturday, June 29 at 1pm and at home against City on Sunday, June 30 at 9am.
The team is Shane Spann, Jonathan Bye, Dean Lovelock and Wayne Handley; Grahame Kinnear, Michael Kinnear, Scott Hamilton and Nathan Dodds; Barry Saroglia, Scott Kinnear, Dale Haack and Ben Cutrone.
Division 4 play at home against Sarina on Saturday, June 29 at 11am and then away against Airlie Beach on Sunday, June 30 at 9am.

The semi-finals of the club championship singles will be played on Sunday at 1.30pm when Barry Saroglia takes on John Henderson, marker Scott Kinnear and Wayne Handley plays Nathan Dodds, marker Scott Hamilton.
