Mixed for­tunes for Proser­pine pen­nants teams

PROSER­PINE BOWLS

LADIES pen­nants is now more than half way com­pleted for Proser­pine fol­low­ing their two away games last week.

On Tues­day af­ter­noon the team played against Pi­o­neer Val­ley and had an over­all win with a score of 41-38 giv­ing them two match points plus eight.

Ma­ree Daf­fara’s team drew 19 all and Joan McGrath’s team won 22-14.

On Wed­nes­day af­ter­noon, the team played against Seaforth and had an over­all win with a score of 38-37 for two match points plus one.

Joan McGrath’s team won 2315 and Ma­ree Daf­fara’s team lost 15-22.

At home on Wed­nes­day, there were two games of so­cial bowls.

John Jack­son (vis­i­tor from Melbourne), Joyce Pat­ullo and Dot Hin­schen de­feated Fran Porter, Bill Hamer (vis­i­tor from Bri­bie Is­land), Pam Selmes and Bar­bara Dam­mash 30-13 and Janet Mortimer, An­nette Pat­ullo and Joy Jef­fries de­feated Trudy Hanne, Arthur Wil­liams and Betty Rudd (vis­i­tor from Bri­bie Is­land) 25-13.

On Sun­day in the sec­ond semi­fi­nal of the club cham­pi­onship pairs Jo Peasley and Joan McGrath de­feated Noelie Dibben and Ma­ree Daf­fara 26-14.

Com­pe­ti­tion is now com­ing to a close with the fi­nal of the club cham­pi­onship sin­gles be­ing played on Wed­nes­day, July 3 be­tween An­nette Pat­ullo and Joan McGrath, marker Ma­ree Daf­fara.

The fi­nal of the B sin­gles will see Amy Hart take on Dell McCor­mack, marker Heather Brown.

This week the pen­nants team has a dou­ble header at home, play­ing against Seaforth at 9am and Pi­o­neer Val­ley at 1pm.

Club com­pe­ti­tion for the men has been in limbo dur­ing pen­nants but will be start­ing back to fin­ish off this week­end.

Last week­end there were two games for each di­vi­sion.

On Satur­day, di­vi­sion 1 played against Mackay Club at Proser­pine and came away with a 50-48 win for two match points plus two.

Shane Spann’s team lost 16-17, Barry Saroglia’s team lost 12-20 and Scott Kin­n­ear’s team saved the day win­ning 22-11.

On Sun­day it was a dif­fer­ent story with Proser­pine los­ing to North Mackay on their car­pet green los­ing 82-33, earn­ing no match points mi­nus 49.

Gra­hame Kin­n­ear’s was beaten 10-36, Scott Kin­n­ear’s team lost 8-26 and Barry Saroglia’s team went down 15-20.

Di­vi­sion 4 played away against North­ern Beaches on Satur­day com­ing away with a win 53-51, earn­ing two match points plus two.

Ross Reville’s team won 23-10, Vince Olsen’s team were de­feated 16-20 and Kevin Thoro­good’s team de­feated 14-21.

Sun­day was a home game against North Mackay with Proser­pine win­ning 78-40, earn­ing two match points plus 38.

Kevin Thoro­good’s team won 23-15, Vince Olsen’s team lost 1418 and Ross Reville’s team won 41-7.

There were two games of so­cial bowls played on Sun­day.

Lois Read and Philip Brown de­feated Janet Mortimer and Heather Brown 25-24 and Trudy Hanne, Jim Quod and Dot Hin­schen de­feated Fran Porter, Bob Bal­lan­tyne (vis­i­tor from WA), Pam Selmes and John Jack­son (vis­i­tor from Melbourne) 25-17.

This week­end is the last week­end of men’s pen­nants teams.

Di­vi­sion 1 is away against Sub­ur­ban on Satur­day, June 29 at 1pm and at home against City on Sun­day, June 30 at 9am.

The team is Shane Spann, Jonathan Bye, Dean Love­lock and Wayne Han­d­ley; Gra­hame Kin­n­ear, Michael Kin­n­ear, Scott Hamil­ton and Nathan Dodds; Barry Saroglia, Scott Kin­n­ear, Dale Haack and Ben Cutrone.

Di­vi­sion 4 play at home against Sa­rina on Satur­day, June 29 at 11am and then away against Air­lie Beach on Sun­day, June 30 at 9am.

Satur­day’s team is Kevin Thoro­good, Rob Tay­lor, Martin Corr and Arthur Wil­liams; Vince Olsen, Barry Zill­mann, John Hen­der­son and Philip Brown; Ross Reville, Shane Kin­n­ear, Jim Quod and Matthew Camm. Sun­day’s team is Kevin Thoro­good, Rob Tay­lor, Mar­cus Craig and Arthur Wil­liams; Vince Olsen, Martin Corr, John Hen­der­son and Philip Brown; Ross Reville, Shane Kin­n­ear, Jim Quod and Matthew Camm.

The semi-fi­nals of the club cham­pi­onship sin­gles will be played on Sun­day at 1.30pm when Barry Saroglia takes on John Hen­der­son, marker Scott Kin­n­ear and Wayne Han­d­ley plays Nathan Dodds, marker Scott Hamil­ton.
