Golfers wel­come dry weather

WHIT­SUN­DAY golfers were pleased to be back on their own nearly dry home course for the June monthly medal stroke com­pe­ti­tion last Sun­day.

In A grade Ge­off Har­ri­son was the win­ner on nett 72, ahead of run­ner-up Ross Richards on 76, who beat Kerry Hall on a count back.

Kym Hill had the best gross score. B grade was won by John Gurd on nett 72 ahead of Anna Win­ter­bourn on 74, while Donny Hope had the best gross score.

Wilf Her­weg took out C grade on nett 69, edg­ing out run­ner-up Mark Ni­coll on 70.

The best gross score came from Ti­ina Rand­mae.

Long­est drives on the day came from Ge­off Har­ri­son (A grade), Mick Ca­ton (B grade), John McCracken (C grade) and Beryl Miller (ladies).

Near­est-the-pins in A/B grade were Ross Richards on hole 2, Kerry Hall on 9, John Gurd on 13 and Ron Jamieson on 16.

C grade near­est-the-pins were Wilf Her­weg on 9 and 13 and Mark Ni­col on 16.

Near­est-the-pins for the ladies were Ti­ina Rand­mae on holes 9 and 16 and Beryl Miller on 13.

Monthly medal win­ners’ Guz­zler’s Cup went to A grade with Ge­off Har­ri­son be­ing the happy re­cip­i­ent.

Next Sun­day will be a free day be­cause the post­poned Proser- pine mens’ cham­pi­onship will be played over the week­end.

Whit­sun­day golfers are able to play nine holes on the back nine at nor­mal tee off time of 7.30am.
