Students achieve black belts
TWO students from Whitsunday Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan were graded to black belt at the club’s recent Dan grading.
Jarrad Arthur successfully achieved his 2nd Dan and Bowie Hodges achieved his 1st Dan Black Belt. Both Arthur and Hodges have been training with the club since its inception in February 2010.
They have each trained extremely hard to get to this point and are now recognised Dan holders with the World Taekwondo Federation.
Head instructor Vicky Gillam - 4th Dan assessed the students for their belts.
Arthur first began training in Taekwondo at the age of four and joined the Whitsunday Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan Club as a preliminary black belt.
In October of 2010 he passed his first Dan grading and when work commitments have allowed, has been an assistant instructor with the club for the past two years.
Hodges also started training at the age of four in Western Australia, and took up the sport again when he was 12.
Bowie started with Whitsunday Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan as a white belt in 2010 and is the first student from the club to achieve his black belt.
HIGHEST HONOUR: Bowie Hodges (1st Dan) and Jarrad Arthur (2nd Dan) were graded to black belt at Whitsunday Taekwondo Oh Do Kwan's recent grading.
