Whitsunday Times - - SPORT -

PROSERPINE bounced back from last weekend’s loss in the best possible way on Saturday with an impressive 38-6 win over the Walkerston Wests.

Playing in front of Wests’ home crowd the Brahmans were switched on from kick off and ran in seven tries to Wests one in the 32-point win.

The win was the Brahmans ninth from eleven games this season and they sit outright second on the ladder, two points behind competition heavyweights Souths.

The reserves were big winners in their match running home 46-30 in a thoroughly-entertaining game.

Proserpine ran in nine tries to Wests six and scored a much needed victory to get their stuttering season back on track.

A lack of available players severely cost the Brahmans under-18s as Wests ran roughshod over them to post a 54-0 win.

The massive loss was to be expected as the Brahmans struggled for numbers after a number of players were unable to make the trip to Mackay.

The loss is only the team’s second loss of the season and they will be hopeful of a better turnout at their home game this weekend.

All teams are in action against Souths at Les Stagg Oval this Sunday with the under-18s kicking off at 11.30am, the reserves at 1pm and the main game at 3pm.
