Town meet­ing for new Cham­ber of Com­merce

THE Air­lie Beach Cham­ber of Com­merce is invit­ing all lo­cal busi­ness peo­ple to at­tend a pub­lic meet­ing on Thurs­day July 11 at the Air­lie Beach Ho­tel.

At the meet­ing, the cham­ber’s in­terim man­age­ment com­mit­tee will be shar­ing a de­tailed up­date on the progress made to date as well as wel­com­ing any sug­ges­tions from the busi­ness com­mu­nity on ideas to help shape the re­gion.

For the past month, the in­terim man­age­ment com­mit­tee has been meet­ing weekly to dis­cuss is­sues and ob­jec­tives af­fect­ing the lo­cal busi­ness com­mu­nity.

The com­mit­tee has also been work­ing with the re­gional man­ager of Cham­ber of Com­merce and In­dus­try Queens­land (CCIQ) Vic­to­ria Brad­shaw. CCIQ is pro­vid­ing as­sis­tance with the for­ma­tion of the cham­ber and com­pil­ing its doc­u­ments of in­cor­po­ra­tion un­der the As­so­ci­a­tions In­cor­po­ra­tion Act. The con­sti­tu­tion and gen­eral poli­cies and pro­ce­dures of CCIQ have been adopted and filed with the ap­pli­ca­tion.

A spe­cial ap­pli­ca­tion has been made for the use of the name “Air­lie Beach Cham­ber of Com­merce”.

All doc­u­ments were posted to the Of­fice of Fair Trad­ing (OFT), with the ap­pro­pri­ate fee on June 14.

Once the ap­pli­ca­tion has been ac­cepted, the cham­ber will move to open a bank ac­count and ap­ply for a Tax File Num­ber and ABN.

Thurs­day’s meet­ing will be held at 6pm for a 6.30pm start. At­ten­dees are ad­vised to re­port to re­cep­tion and they will then be di­rected to the meet­ing room.
