Ladies look for­ward to fi­nal clash of the sea­son

LADIES pen­nants are al­most com­plete for this year with just the one game to be played to­day at North Mackay.

On Wed­nes­day the team played a dou­ble header, be­ing de­feated by Seaforth in the morn­ing 32-45 and earn­ing no match points mi­nus 13.

Ma­ree Daf­fara’s team won 17-16 and Joan McGrath’s team lost 15-29.

In the af­ter­noon they drew with Pi­o­neer Val­ley 43 all and earned one match point.

Ma­ree Daf­fara’s team were de­feated 23-26 and Joan McGrath’s team won 20-17.

In com­pe­ti­tion this week, An­nette Pat­ullo plays Joan McGrath in the fi­nal of the club cham­pi­onship sin­gles, marker Ma­ree Daf­fara.

The B sin­gles game also sched­uled to be played on Wed­nes­day has been post­poned.

The in­ter­town shield will be played at Proser­pine on Wed­nes­day, July 10.

It’s an all-day event with teams from Wan­garatta and St Helen’s play­ing against lo­cal teams to con­test the shield, cur­rently held by Proser­pine.

Air­lie Beach would usu­ally be in­volved in this shield con­test but have with­drawn this year as they are un­able to field a team.

The fi­nal of the club cham­pi­onship pairs will be played on Wed­nes­day, July 17 be­tween Jo Peasley and Joan McGrath and Lois Read and Dot Hin­schen.

On Wed­nes­day, July 24 the fi­nal of the club cham­pi­onship triples is on be­tween Noelie Dibben, Pam Selmes and Gail Camm and Mar­garet Rus­sell, June Blair and Dot Hin­schen.

Nom­i­na­tions are now open for the Whit­sun­day Car­ni­val be­ing played on Mon­day, July 29 at Proser­pine.

This is a ladies fours car­ni­val and the greens will be filled with trop­i­cal dress when play­ers from through­out the dis­trict and be­yond, come to con­test this an­nual event.

Proser­pine mem­bers are asked to bring along two cent sale prizes for the day.

The next com­mit­tee meet­ing is on Mon­day, July 8 at 9am.

Men’s pen­nants is now com­plete for 2013.

Di­vi­sion 1 had a loss against Souths Sub­ur­ban on Satur­day, win­ning on two of the three rinks but los­ing out on the ag­gre­gate to go down 56-71 earn­ing 0 match points mi­nus 15.

Barry Saroglia’s team won 24-12, Shane Spann’s team won 23-21 and Gra­hame Kin­n­ear’s team lost 9-38.

On Sun­day in a home game against City, Proser­pine won on all 3 rinks to win 82-50 earn­ing two match points plus 32.

Gra­hame Kin­n­ear’s team won 2519, Shane Spann’s team won 31-14 and Barry Saroglia’s team won 26-17.

Di­vi­sion 4 had a home game against Sa­rina on Satur­day win­ning 72-52 earn­ing two match points plus 20.

Ross Reville’s team won 26-15, Kevin Thoro­good’s team won 25-16 and Vince Olsen’s team lost 21-22.

On Sun­day they played against Air­lie at Air­lie with a loss 31-84 earn­ing no match points mi­nus 53.

Vince Olsen’s team lost 13-24, Kevin Thoro­good’s team lost 10-38 and Ross Reville’s team lost 8-22.

On Sun­day af­ter­noon, the semi -fi­nals of the club cham­pi­onship sin­gles were played and both games were of a high cal­i­bre.

Wayne Han­d­ley de­feated Nathan Dodds 25-21 over 27 ends and Barry Saroglia de­feated John Hen­der­son 26-21 in 23 ends.

In so­cial play Lau­rie Brew (vis­i­tor from Coon­abarabran), Fran Porter, Jo Peasley and Joy Jef­fries de­feated Jeanette Cal­way, Janet Mortimer and Dot Hin­schen 24-20.

In a game of 3 three bowl pairs Kevin Duell and Gail Camm de­feated Noelie Dibben and Lois Read 25-22.

Now pen­nants are over, there are lots of com­pe­ti­tions to get un­der way.

Mixed sin­gles start on Satur­day, July 6 with a 1.30pm start.

Heather Brown plays Matthew Camm (marker Gail Camm), Dean Love­lock plays Philip Brown (marker Ross Reville).

In the se­nior sin­gles Kevin Thoro­good plays Kevin Duell (marker Dot Hin­schen) and in the B sin­gles John Hen­der­son takes on Todd Leys (marker Dale Haack).

On Satur­day, July 13 the club cham­pi­onship fours semi-fi­nals are on be­tween Kevin Duell, Dean Love­lock, Shane Kin­n­ear and Ross Reville and Nathan Dodds, Scott Hamil­ton, Michael Kin­n­ear and Gra­hame Kin­n­ear.

In the other game Ben Cutrone, Brian Pearce, Scott Kin­n­ear and Barry Saroglia will play Philip Brown, Martin Corr, Rob Tay­lor and Barry Zill­mann.

On Sun­day, July 14 Dean Love­lock and Shane Kin­n­ear will bowl against Brian Pearce and Barry Saroglia.
