Ladies look forward to final clash of the season
LADIES pennants are almost complete for this year with just the one game to be played today at North Mackay.
On Wednesday the team played a double header, being defeated by Seaforth in the morning 32-45 and earning no match points minus 13.
Maree Daffara’s team won 17-16 and Joan McGrath’s team lost 15-29.
In the afternoon they drew with Pioneer Valley 43 all and earned one match point.
Maree Daffara’s team were defeated 23-26 and Joan McGrath’s team won 20-17.
In competition this week, Annette Patullo plays Joan McGrath in the final of the club championship singles, marker Maree Daffara.
The B singles game also scheduled to be played on Wednesday has been postponed.
The intertown shield will be played at Proserpine on Wednesday, July 10.
It’s an all-day event with teams from Wangaratta and St Helen’s playing against local teams to contest the shield, currently held by Proserpine.
Airlie Beach would usually be involved in this shield contest but have withdrawn this year as they are unable to field a team.
The final of the club championship pairs will be played on Wednesday, July 17 between Jo Peasley and Joan McGrath and Lois Read and Dot Hinschen.
On Wednesday, July 24 the final of the club championship triples is on between Noelie Dibben, Pam Selmes and Gail Camm and Margaret Russell, June Blair and Dot Hinschen.
Nominations are now open for the Whitsunday Carnival being played on Monday, July 29 at Proserpine.
This is a ladies fours carnival and the greens will be filled with tropical dress when players from throughout the district and beyond, come to contest this annual event.
Proserpine members are asked to bring along two cent sale prizes for the day.
The next committee meeting is on Monday, July 8 at 9am.
Men’s pennants is now complete for 2013.
Division 1 had a loss against Souths Suburban on Saturday, winning on two of the three rinks but losing out on the aggregate to go down 56-71 earning 0 match points minus 15.
Barry Saroglia’s team won 24-12, Shane Spann’s team won 23-21 and Grahame Kinnear’s team lost 9-38.
On Sunday in a home game against City, Proserpine won on all 3 rinks to win 82-50 earning two match points plus 32.
Grahame Kinnear’s team won 2519, Shane Spann’s team won 31-14 and Barry Saroglia’s team won 26-17.
Division 4 had a home game against Sarina on Saturday winning 72-52 earning two match points plus 20.
Ross Reville’s team won 26-15, Kevin Thorogood’s team won 25-16 and Vince Olsen’s team lost 21-22.
On Sunday they played against Airlie at Airlie with a loss 31-84 earning no match points minus 53.
Vince Olsen’s team lost 13-24, Kevin Thorogood’s team lost 10-38 and Ross Reville’s team lost 8-22.
On Sunday afternoon, the semi -finals of the club championship singles were played and both games were of a high calibre.
Wayne Handley defeated Nathan Dodds 25-21 over 27 ends and Barry Saroglia defeated John Henderson 26-21 in 23 ends.
In social play Laurie Brew (visitor from Coonabarabran), Fran Porter, Jo Peasley and Joy Jeffries defeated Jeanette Calway, Janet Mortimer and Dot Hinschen 24-20.
In a game of 3 three bowl pairs Kevin Duell and Gail Camm defeated Noelie Dibben and Lois Read 25-22.
Now pennants are over, there are lots of competitions to get under way.
Mixed singles start on Saturday, July 6 with a 1.30pm start.
Heather Brown plays Matthew Camm (marker Gail Camm), Dean Lovelock plays Philip Brown (marker Ross Reville).
In the senior singles Kevin Thorogood plays Kevin Duell (marker Dot Hinschen) and in the B singles John Henderson takes on Todd Leys (marker Dale Haack).
On Saturday, July 13 the club championship fours semi-finals are on between Kevin Duell, Dean Lovelock, Shane Kinnear and Ross Reville and Nathan Dodds, Scott Hamilton, Michael Kinnear and Grahame Kinnear.
In the other game Ben Cutrone, Brian Pearce, Scott Kinnear and Barry Saroglia will play Philip Brown, Martin Corr, Rob Taylor and Barry Zillmann.
On Sunday, July 14 Dean Lovelock and Shane Kinnear will bowl against Brian Pearce and Barry Saroglia.
