Slow start

Whitsunday Times - - LOCAL NEWS -

A TOTAL of 75,529 tonnes of sugar cane was crushed during the second week of the Proserpine Mill’s 2013 crushing season. Factory issues caused interruptions to crushing at the start of the week, but the latter part of the week saw throughput above budget. Cane supply manager Ron Worth said slower harvesting conditions and damp fields meant some groups were unable to fill their quotas. The lower than expected bin weights are still challenging smooth crushing operations.
