New Re­ject Shop opens

AUS­TRALIA’s largest dis­count va­ri­ety re­tailer The Re­ject Shop has opened its 50th Queens­land store in Proser­pine.

The store was of­fi­cially opened at 8.30am last Thurs­day at­tract­ing about 30 cus­tomers in its first half hour of busi­ness.

The new store is The Re­ject Shop’s 279th store na­tion­ally and the com­pany’s first in Proser­pine.

Lo­cated in the Faust Build­ing on the cor­ner of Mill and Main Streets, act­ing divi­sional man­ager Ger­ard Leehy de­scribed it as “un­miss­able”.

Mr Leehy said he hoped the store, which has cre­ated about 20 jobs, would be one of the lead­ing retailers in the town.

“We’re very cus­tomer fo­cussed and we like to be a friendly type of busi­ness where peo­ple like to come back,” he said. Store man­ager Tom Glis­son, a lo­cal of some 18 years, said he too hoped the store would bring “some­thing fresh and new to the town”.

“The feel­ing I get is ev­ery­body’s been wait­ing for it to come, which is good,” he said.

Mr Glis­son said over the com­ing months he would fo­cus on keep­ing cus­tomer ser­vice up and prices down.

“Our Proser­pine cus­tomers will find The Re­ject Shop is a great place to save money on a huge range of prod­ucts in­clud­ing home­wares, kitchen­ware, hard­ware, pet care, house­hold clean­ing prod­ucts, toi­letries and cos­met­ics,” he said

Hours of busi­ness are Mon­day-Wed­nes­day and Fri­day, 8.30am - 5.30pm, Thurs­day, 8.30am - 7pm, Satur­day, 8.30am - 5pm and Sun­day, 10.00am - 4pm.
