Juniors compete in Mackay golf circuit
Last week four Proserpine junior golfers represented the club at the Mackay junior sugar circuit.
The nine and 18 holers competed at the Sarina, Pioneer Valley, Black Springs and Mackay courses and the three holers competed at the Sarina and Pioneer Valley courses.
In the three holes competition Hamish Adam competed in his first tournaments and he smashed his opponents shooting a 26 and a 20 over the two days and claiming cross winner on both days.
In the nine holes Emma Bluck shot a 60, 63, 54 and 58 and picked up a nett prize each day while slashing her handicap by three shots.
Mathew Bower was a newcomer to the 18 hole competition and he matched his opponents in C grade and shot numerous pars and some birdies on the challenging courses.
Matt Bluck competed in the A grade field and played a very competitive game. He took out the overall champion at Black Springs and Mackay, qualifying to attend the Greg Norman junior masters later in the year.
All of the players showed great sportsmanship and represented the club with pride.
Juniors continue on Tuesday and Friday afternoons at 3.30pm and all young players are welcome to come along and give it a go.
