Ju­niors com­pete in Mackay golf cir­cuit

JU­NIOR GOLF

Last week four Proser­pine ju­nior golfers rep­re­sented the club at the Mackay ju­nior sugar cir­cuit.

The nine and 18 holers com­peted at the Sa­rina, Pi­o­neer Val­ley, Black Springs and Mackay cour­ses and the three holers com­peted at the Sa­rina and Pi­o­neer Val­ley cour­ses.

In the three holes com­pe­ti­tion Hamish Adam com­peted in his first tour­na­ments and he smashed his op­po­nents shoot­ing a 26 and a 20 over the two days and claim­ing cross win­ner on both days.

In the nine holes Emma Bluck shot a 60, 63, 54 and 58 and picked up a nett prize each day while slash­ing her hand­i­cap by three shots.

Mathew Bower was a new­comer to the 18 hole com­pe­ti­tion and he matched his op­po­nents in C grade and shot nu­mer­ous pars and some birdies on the chal­leng­ing cour­ses.

Matt Bluck com­peted in the A grade field and played a very com­pet­i­tive game. He took out the over­all cham­pion at Black Springs and Mackay, qual­i­fy­ing to at­tend the Greg Nor­man ju­nior masters later in the year.

All of the play­ers showed great sports­man­ship and rep­re­sented the club with pride.

Ju­niors con­tinue on Tues­day and Fri­day af­ter­noons at 3.30pm and all young play­ers are wel­come to come along and give it a go.
