Air­lie Im­ports claim back-to-back ti­tles

IN­DOOR SOC­CER

AIR­LIE Im­ports have suc­cess­fully re­tained the Whit­sun­day five-aside in­door football ti­tle af­ter an em­phatic 15-0 vic­tory over the A-team in last week’s grand fi­nal.

In do­ing so the team cre­ated his­tory by go­ing through the en­tire cam­paign un­beaten and be­com­ing the first team to claim the tro­phy back-to-back.

Af­ter a com­pet­i­tive open­ing, where both teams traded chances, Air­lie Im­ports took a half time lead of 3-0.

It wasn't un­til the sec­ond half when the Im­ports started to as­sert their dom­i­nance with some breath­tak­ing at­tacks and strong de­fend­ing to run out com­fort­able 15-0 win­ners on the night.

The Cops A team im­pressed in their first sea­son for fin­ish­ing third in their first ever tour­na­ment af­ter WOPs for­feited the play­off game.

IN­DOOR CHMPIONS: Bren­dan ‘Je­sus’ Cook, Rho­dri ‘the hand’ Jones, Ben ‘Wom­bat’ Smith (back), Dan ‘the painter’ Skinner, Mark ‘Ir­ish’ Kil­lian and Billy ‘Packer’ Kirk­ness from the Air­lie Im­ports romped home to a big win in the in­door soc­cer fi­nal last week.
